چکیده

Cyanobacteria are a group of oxygenic photosynthetic prokaryotes found in almost all habitats on earth including those characterized as extreme environments. It has been observed that the number studies dealing with biodiversity extremophilic cyanobacteria is limited while exploring their bioactive potential even scarcer. The taxonomy three Nostoc-like cyanobacterial strains isolated from shallow lake Brazil was studied by applying polyphasic approach. also evaluated using antimicrobial susceptibility testing. metabolites present HPLC fractions were identified UPLC/ESI/Q-TOF. Based our phylogenetic inferences combination morphological and ecological information, we describe Aliinostoc alkaliphilum sp. nov., exhibiting antibacterial antifungal activities. main metabolite nocuolin A, which represents first report this Aliinostoc. Our revealed many metabolite-producting currently assigned to Nostoc belong other distinct evolutionary lineages. These findings highlight importance approach both natural product discovery programs.

Identification of sesquiterpene synthases from Nostoc punctiforme PCC 73102 and Nostoc sp. strain PCC 7120.

Cyanobacteria are a rich source of natural products and are known to produce terpenoids. These bacteria are the major source of the musty-smelling terpenes geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol, which are found in many natural water supplies; however, no terpene synthases have been characterized from these organisms to date. Here, we describe the characterization of three sesquiterpene synthases ident...

Moorea producens gen. nov., sp. nov. and Moorea bouillonii comb. nov., tropical marine cyanobacteria rich in bioactive secondary metabolites.

The filamentous cyanobacterial genus Moorea gen. nov., described here under the provisions of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature, is a cosmopolitan pan-tropical group abundant in the marine benthos. Members of the genus Moorea are photosynthetic (containing phycocyanin, phycoerythrin, allophycocyanin and chlorophyll a), but non-diazotrophic (lack heterocysts and nitrogenase reduct...

A Report on Finding a New Peptide Aldehyde from Cyanobacterium Nostoc sp. Bahar M by LC-MS and Marfey’s Analysis

Background: Cyanobacteria have a worldwide distribution in the terrestrial habitats, occurring predominantly on the surface of the soils, stones, rocks, and trees, practically in moist, neutral or alkaline aeries. The unique natural and bioactive compounds from cyanobacteria with various biological activities and an extensive range of chemical classes have a significant capabil...

(New aerophytic morphospecies of Nostoc (Cyanobacteria) from São Paulo State, Brazil). Brazilian aerophytic biotopes are almost completely unknown regarding to cyanobacterial flora. During the study of this special flora, three morphospecies of the genus Nostoc from different habitats in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, were found. Based on their morphology, especially by formation and shape of ...
